( the good news is every conversation passing between them won’t be like this. they need to get through it, past it, and see where it leaves them standing because right now, his issue it not being confident with his footing. how do they fit together? are they friends? just friends? are they more? is he screwing this up by being too forward or by not being forward enough? it’s a whole run-on sentence of panic, consoled and silenced by penny’s proximity and candidness.
